The project in Beguedo, Burkina Faso, addressed soil erosion and agricultural risks due to heavy rains and climate change. Supported by the IOM, the project aimed not only to preserve agricultural land but also to provide a concrete alternative to migration by creating job opportunities and promoting food autonomy for the community.
Through the stabilization of the river bend and the preparation of new agricultural lands, along with the installation of solar-powered submersible pumps for sustainable irrigation, the project strengthened the community's resilience. Training in sustainable agricultural practices further enhanced the residents' ability to ensure their own food security, significantly contributing to the well-being and stability of the Beguedo community and offering a viable alternative to migration.
