Once upon a time, there was a village in Niger, right in the Nigerien DES-ERT, precisely in Takoukoute.
Mohammed, Adija, Ghalissn, Ghaicha, Fatima, and all the other children of the village would go every day to their small red-brick school, where with great passion, the teacher Abdourahmane taught them to write and count.
At night, the school would shine with the light left behind by the children’s wonder from the day, lost in that vast desert of sand.
Many, many miles away, on the other side of the globe, a cosmic wizard named Adrian Fartade, who spent every evening observing the night sky in search of new stars, received a riddle from the Grand Superior Council of Constellations: “Search, search in the sand, and a blue turban will tell you of another star that is already there, and more will appear!”
Without hesitation! The wizard Fartade, knowing of an organization that helps Children in the Desert, immediately contacted them and asked for help in solving the mysterious riddle. Children in the Desert, in no time, intercepted the man with the blue turban, the Tuareg Mussa, a man who watched over the desert to ensure that everyone, but especially the children, could be better off.
And so he told that the school of teacher Abdourahmane did not have much time left and was collapsing: too much wind, too many years, too much of everything.
The wizard of the stars did not hesitate and called upon all those who could help him gather the necessary funds to build the new school. And so it was: the gravitational force developed by this mystery, just as happens when stars are born, increased the speed of rotation of donations until the necessary money was gathered.
With handmade bricks, the scorching sun, and a sprinkle of dust from brilliant comets, within a few months, the school came to life, and much joy spread among the villagers. Desks and even blackboards arrived! The mission had been accomplished: the School of the Stars was born.
Months passed, and everything went smoothly. But on a terrible night, in the silent village, a wind of the kind you never forget, one that even scares the stars into fleeing and turning off, struck: there was nothing to be done, the force was so strong that the roof broke. The children were left speechless the next day. They were forced to find shelter in the old dilapidated school.
The sky in Takoukoute remained full of stars, so many that they couldn’t all fit in one’s eyes, and from that night, the children never returned to their school. We need your help to repair the roof and bring the School of the Stars back to life.
