Among the mountains of the High Atlas, in Morocco, where the earth shook in September 2023, time seems to have stood still.

Entire villages were flattened, and the temporary camps still host hundreds of families who lost everything. Among the rocks and dust, people are trying to rebuild not only their homes but also a sense of normal life.

Schools have reopened — often in tents or makeshift buildings — yet many children face cold and poverty every day without the essentials: a pen, a notebook, a pair of shoes, a warm jacket.

The roads that lead up there are not real roads: they are rocky and sandy tracks climbing beyond 2,000 meters, where every bend must be taken with care, as deep ravines drop hundreds of meters just beside the path.

And yet, it is along these roads that one meets the eyes and smiles that make every risk worthwhile.

The people of the Atlas — the Berbers — welcome you with rare generosity: they share the little they have — a cup of mint tea, a piece of bread, a seat by the fire. Their dignity and strength are the true driving force of this new mission.

In recent weeks, many teachers we met during previous expeditions have written to us. They speak of children who walk several kilometers each day to reach school, often barefoot and without adequate clothing.

Their requests are simple but profound: “Help us keep alive our children’s desire to learn.”

That is why, on October 29, we will set off again on a new mission: Echoes of Atlas – Autumn 2025.

We will reach the most remote schools of the Atlas Mountains to deliver educational materials, shoes, and warm clothing. Before the harsh winter arrives, we want to be there — to support those who endure and to remind them they are not alone.
