Between 2003 and 2023, Bambini nel Deserto carried out a wide range of agricultural development projects, educational support initiatives, and healthcare assistance programs in Mauritania. During this period, numerous schools were built and renovated, ensuring better access to education for children in local communities. To address water issues, traditional wells were constructed to provide necessary irrigation for agricultural crops, enhancing food security in the region.
Additionally, microcredit programs were launched, providing local families with the financial resources needed to start small businesses and improve their livelihoods. In the healthcare sector, medical facilities were built and equipped, ensuring access to basic medical care and improving the health conditions of local communities.
Bambini nel Deserto's interventions were primarily focused in the Adrar region and the desert areas around Kiffa, adapting to the specific needs of the populations in these areas. Thanks to these targeted and sustainable interventions, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania was one of the first countries to officially recognize Bambini nel Deserto as an NGO.
