The project was initiated in response to the request for financial support to open a hair salon in Yagma, a neighborhood located north of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.
Yagma is a densely populated and rapidly growing area along one of the country's most important road axes, connecting Burkina Faso with Mali. The proposal currently involves 5 women who already have several years of experience as hairdressers but were unable to open a venue to serve their clientele.
A key strength of this project is that the salon has also become a free training center for many girls in the neighborhood who aspire to become skilled hairdressers over time.
The facility in the Yagma neighborhood has been identified and renovated to increase its vertical space; though not large, it can accommodate our five "entrepreneurs" along with their apprentices. Purchases were made to set up the hairdressing workshop: helmets, various types of extensions, hygiene products and suitable tools, mirrors, chairs, wash basins, buckets, wigs, solar panel with battery.
