In the heart of Niger, where the sun scorches the earth and the sand forms endless dunes, there is a special place: Takoukoute.

Here, a Tuareg community, guardians of ancient traditions and deeply connected to the desert, struggles to survive through modest agriculture and the raising of small ruminants. In this context, we have established a school (École des Étoiles), a beacon of hope for the local children.

The school, currently undergoing renovation, represents a unique opportunity for these children to access education and build a better future. However, food for the students is scarce, and resources are limited.

For this reason, we are launching a fundraising campaign for an ambitious project: the creation of a school herd.

A Herd to Nourish, Educate, and Unite

The herd, initially consisting of 24 goats and sheep, will belong to the school and be directly managed by the students under the guidance of their teacher.

Each child will be responsible for an animal, offering them a unique educational experience and a tangible contribution to their nutrition.

The benefits of this project are numerous:

1. Fresh milk every day: An essential source of nutrition for the children's growth and health.
2. Life lessons: The children will learn to care for animals, developing a sense of responsibility and love for them.
3. An investment in the future: Any surplus milk will be transformed into Takummare, the traditional Tuareg cheese, a valuable food that can be easily stored, consumed, or sold, creating a small fund for the school and the community.
4. A growing herd: Over time, the number of animals will increase, ensuring an ever-expanding source of sustenance for the community and allowing more children to benefit.
