The project involves transforming a 2-hectare plot of land into a sustainable agro-ecological system through the installation of water and solar energy systems, as well as the adoption of organic and environmentally friendly farming methods.
Over the 12-month duration of the project, the goal is to create an agroforestry cooperative managed by 30 women, promoting their economic and social empowerment. This project will not only ensure access to water and improve food security for the local community in Thienaba, Senegal, but it will also provide the women involved with new agricultural skills and the opportunity to increase their income through the sale of surplus agricultural products.
The nearby community, consisting of approximately 500 people, will indirectly benefit from the project due to the availability of agricultural products and the creation of a replicable and sustainable economic model. The active participation of local stakeholders from the beginning will ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative, in line with the principles of local ownership and local knowledge.
