With the beginning of 2024, Children in the Desert is preparing to open a new chapter in its history, this time in the heart of the Sahara desert in Agadez, Niger. After more than twenty years of experience in this country, we are turning our vision into reality by creating Children in the Niger Desert, a new NGO that will carry forward our common mission of aid and development.

In a context of widespread corruption that undermines the development of Africa, we at "Children in the Desert" raise our voice, highlighting how this phenomenon constitutes a significant obstacle to the growth and prosperity of the continent. From the far south to the north, corruption seems to permeate every level of society, from a simple policeman stopping a motorist on the street to a ruler granting gold mining concessions.

The first thing we breathe together, in this season of the Sahel called Harmattan, is dust. We all breathe it, albeit in different ways. There are those who wear Covid masks and those who, more respectful of tradition, cover a good part of their faces with a turban in the style of the 'Tuareg' who have great experience in this area.
